Summary/Abstract: Our paper tackles some aspects of food in La Plaça del Diamant (1962) by Catalan writer Mercè Rodoreda (1908-1983). We examine the very abundant presence of food-related elements and we analyze some of the functions acquired by food isotopies throughout the novel, as a marker of characters’ desires, personality and life stages.
