Knowledge management system development stages − research results in manufacturing companies

Summary/Abstract: This paper addresses the issue of knowledge management system (KMS) development. Based on own empirical research conducted in manufacturing companies, the author characterizes the development stages of KMS. Considerations were based on the Greiner’s model of firm growth, however, an extra sixth stage was proposed in which the organizations work closely with the environment and the active process of imparting knowledge to the outside takes place, including a number of educational activities directed to the clients of a company.
