Summary/Abstract: The present article highlights the personality of the musician Filothei Jipa, who, 300 years ago (1713), wrote the first Religious Music Book in Romanian language, entitled „Romanian Psaltichie”, a manuscript now at the Romanian Academy Library, code 61. For the first time, this manuscript was researched and later on published in four volumes, between 1981 – 1992, by the famous professor and byzantinologist, Sebastian Barbu – Bucur. The „Romanization” process of religious music is presented since its very beginning, in ancient times, until the last representative of this long process, which lasted for more than 200 years, Ion Popescu Pasărea. The personalities of cultural and musical life are presented here, personalities who contributed massively to the development of this phenomenon, started with the first translations and printings, realized by the deacon Coresi in Braşov.
