Summary/Abstract: This paper interprets a novel called Imotski kadija by Irfan Horozović in the light of postmodern poetics which showed up as a rich soil for its reading. It's a novel which reinterprets the baliad Hasanaginica, but in its narrative tissue introduces conversation with many other texts and cultures. Identity of Imotski kadija is a postmodern dispersed identity. Its subjection doesn't imply a subordination to the society. A woman is shown from the position of phalloccntrism, but there is also a criticism of logocenlrism in the novel. History is a place for a „short story", which isn't whole, but fragmented. The novel characterizes a distinety „awaked" epistyle, and presence of metatextual signals. Typical postmodern terms such as identity, subject, dialogue, deconstruction, supplement, logocentrism, phallocentrism, others (like unconscious), desire, mise-en-abyme, intertextuality, metatextuality, parody, metafiction, mirror , fragmentation, irony have their basis in the text and they are necessary for its understanding.
