Summary/Abstract: Islamic banking and finance, within a modern context, has only existed for about 50 years. However, Islamic banking is an irrefutable reality today. A number of Islamic banks and financial institutions has constantly been growing. New Islamic banks have been established with a tremendous amount of capital. Conventional banks open Islamic counters or Islamic branch offices that operate in accordance with Islamic principles. Even non-Muslim financial institutions get into this business field and compete among between themselves in attracting as more Muslim clients as possible. Islamic banking will apparently double according to capital and the scope of business. It can be foreseen that the business of Islamic banking will cover a large part of world financial transactions.
