The Sustainable Development of Romanian Rural Regions

Summary/Abstract: In the paper’s framework, three essential aspects were dealt with: the factors and contents of the rural sustainable development contemporary process, the present situation of the Romanian rural environment and the strategic sustainability vision for this environment, in condition of the European Union economy integration. Arguments were brought regarding the necessity of accelerating the Romanian rural regions’ sustainable development process, in order for it to become more consistent with the one of the European Union’s countries. Nevertheless, strategic objectives and tasks were assessed, along with specific objectives and secondary priorities of the National Rural Development Programme 2007-2013.
