Mirko Kosic as the Editor of and Contributor to the "Social Life" Journal

Summary/Abstract: Mirko M. Kosic, the first Serbian educated sociologists set in 1920. up and was editor-in-chief of the first sociological scientific journal in Serbia „Društveni zivot” („Social Life"). The journal was published in Belgrade in 1920 and 1921, and it was re-issued in Novi Sad in 1930. „Društveni zivot1 published articles and essays in the fields of politics, economy and social sciences. It also contained reviews of newly published books and journals, which were included in the journal on a regular basis. Besides Mirko Kosic, editor-in-chief and the publisher of the journal, writers and contributors to „Društveni zivot” journal were esteemed members of Academy of Arts and Sciences, University professors and educators. The journal also published translations of works of contemporary foreign authors. It contained extensive critical reviews of books and journals from the fields of so¬ciology, social psychology, ethno psychology, people's economy, history, cultural history, science on state, politics, religion. Mirko Kosic wasn't just editor-in-chief of „Društveni zivot” journal, he also contributed articles to it as an author. He wrote on sociology and economy and contributed to the review of the contemporary political issues pertaining to events in Yugoslav society in the 1920's and 1930's. Mirko Kosic was very active in reviewing books and journals on sociology and economy. He used his reviews to express his theoretical postulates and to review critically the contemporary social problems. Mirko M. Kosic made a significant contribution to Serbian sociology by starting up and editing „Društveni zivot” journal. This was the first professional scientific sociological journal in Serbia. As a contributing author, Mirko Košić determined the profile of the journal through his articles and reviews published in it.
