Summary/Abstract: Awareness of the importance of the knowledge for organizations in the modern economy led to a new concept, the continuously learning organization. This research aims to identify the orientation (to the market or/and to learning) that organizations adopt when they want to adapt to a change, to analyse how the organization's learning capabilities allow the continuous reconfiguration of the organizational learning process and ultimately, to determine whether the benefits of market orientation and learning orientation resulted in an improved marketing and financial organizational performance. Therefore, the model of analysis is descriptive rather than normative, focusing on the most important empirical research findings of the period we refer to. At the end of the paper, there is a presentation of conclusions about how learning orientation may influence the firm's market orientation.
