Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the findings of a research devoted to assessing intercultural communicative competence in pre-service English language teachers. At first the author presents a discussion on aims and goals of language pedagogy in post-modern times in order to set context for educating a teacher as a cultural mediator and then suggests methods to assess the teacher’s intercultural communicative competence.
