Ambiguity – analyzing gender role socialization of women

Summary/Abstract: The topic of the article is the gender role socialization process of single women living in present time society. This process has been analyzed using gender perspective. Analysis of research data was performed based on Bardwick’s and Douvan’s concept of ambiguity in socialization of women. Main assumptions of this concept are presented at the beginning of the article. Fundamental part of this work is focused on ambiguity in socialization process, which were discovered among interviewed women. This ambiguity is described in several socialization contexts: family, peers, education on various levels (basic, high school, college, university), job.
