Summary/Abstract: The aim of our article is to show how exoticism can be considered attractive, and even a source of inspiration, but how it can also be apprehended, or even rudely rejected. Enlightenment and Romanticism saw exotic places and peoples as attractive and seductive. Even Magic Realism started, and became an attraction, precisely due to its exotic characteristics which offered something new, different and fresh to the reading public all over the world. Meanwhile if we understand exoticism as defining something foreign or different, we can also equate it with otherness, migrants, marginalized people.
