„Egyptian Darkness...” – from Authoritarianism to Authoritarianism

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the key events that determine the political, social and economic situation in Egypt in the early 2010s. Owing to its potential, the country is considered a rising power at the regional level, and its policies may be key to future geopolitical developments, not only the Middle East. The paper presents the irony of the Arab Revolution of 2011, which led to the overthrowing of one authoritarian regime and the rise of another.
