Summary/Abstract: This study has far more restricted objectives: it aims to complement and, possibly, to give a comprehensive explanation of two fundamental components of Britain's attitude to the reforms in Macedonia in the period between 1903 and 1908. The problems in mind are the following: first, the role and participation of public opinion in the country (particularly the Balkan Committee) in determining the Middle East reform policy of British cabinets after the revolt on St. Elijah's Dat; second, the birth and concrete stages of development of the idea to grant Macedonia autonomy under an independent Governor General in British political and diplomatic reform activity.
