Summary/Abstract: Slovenia passed an Act on the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage on December 27, 2007; it officially deposited the document of ratification of the Convention on September 18, 2008 and the Convention came into force on December 18, 2008. Slovenia thus commits to doing everything possible to protect the intangible cultural heritage in its territory, in particular in identifying and defining different components of intangible heritage with the help of communities, groups and relevant non-governmental organisations.
