Summary/Abstract: Ozone problem as atmospheric pollution has become more relevant with every year in Lithuania and the world. Ozone causes an undesirable biological effect on humans and plants and their wellbeing because of its extreme activity. Tropospheric ozone can irritate the respiratory system, reduce lung function, and strongly aggravate people’s with chronic lung diseases situation, inflame and damage the lining of lungs, cause headache, eye itches, reduce immunity. High ozone concentration, when it penetrates into a plant slowing its growth, disturbs its metabolism, slows down the intensity of photosynthesis changes chemical components of leaves, influences leave necrosis and defoliation of trees. Research aim is to analyze ground-level ozone concentration changes in Šiauliai city. A measurement of ozone concentration and its precursors using mobile air research laboratory and an ozone analyzer were made. Tropospheric ozone concentration changes during the day, yearly analysis have been measured as well as the analysis of ozone concentration’s dependence on ultraviolet sun rays and ozone predecessors emission in Šiauliai city, also a long-range transport of ozone has been done.
