Database Digitalisation as Exemplified by the {Dictionary of the Language of Jan Chryzostom Pasek}

Summary/Abstract: The paper shows the tenets of database digitalization on the basis of entries included in {Słownik języka Jana Chryzostoma Paska} (The Dictionary of the Language of Jan Chryzostom Pasek) edited by H. Koneczna and W. Doroszewski (vol 1–2), published in Warsaw 1965–1973. The key issue raised in the article is the normalization of databases. By exploiting editorial information and analyzing the structure of simple entries the author shows the stages and rules of creating a database which will serve as the digital version of the dictionary. The paper is targeted at Polish philologists who wish to use databases in their lexicographical research.
