Summary/Abstract: Kant has investigated the problem of freedom from a double perspective, moral and political. While Kant’s view on moral freedom became rather peripheral in our time, his notion of political freedom keeps being fundamental. Having as subject the analysis of the latter through what is called “perpetual peace”, this paper aims at arguing that, even if the Kantian problem of political freedom is still a central one, its Kantian solution is no longer attractive. Moreover, in my opinion, even the approach itself to this problem in Kant’s terms seems not to be anymore a proper one in the context of our increasingly globalized world.
