Summary/Abstract: The movement Otpor (Resistance) is scrutinised in this paper as one of the participants in the political milieu responsible for the political and social changes of October 5th, 2000. First, a sociological insight is provided into the social situation of the 90’s, which gave birth to student protests, and whose logical continuation is pre-sented in the student movement Otpor. Next, its development from the formation, over activity strategies and tactics, ideological background, symbols, campaigns, and actions, all the way to its transformation into a political party and, eventually, its extinction is traced. Furthermore, the actual political role and significance that Otpor had in the political changes is also considered, as well as the support that it garnered from the Western countries.
