Summary/Abstract: The present study explores African American cultural projection with special focus on its implosive nature. In particular, I will investigate identity formation through the creation of the (imagined) religious community: The Nation of Islam. The ultimate question explored is how a new racial/cultural self of the Black Muslim is created through a religious genealogy and praxis.
