Summary/Abstract: The article is an examination of the place of musical creativity in the national culture and its role in cross -cultural relations between different ethnic groups and social communities, and particularly in the case of the Belarusian -Polish intercultural dialogue. The author notes that certain features of musical art in this cultural area in that period were often based on the elements of traditional Belarusian melos. In particular, such composers as M. Karlovich, S. Kazuro, L. Rogovski, T. Sheligovsky, R. Padlevsky, presented in their compositions some melodies and rhythmic patterns stemming from the Belarusian musical folklore. Today, their creative legacy has been recognised as an important part of not only Polish, but also Belarusian culture. The special attention is paid to the notion that music is one of the best ways of cross -cultural interaction; therefore, the direction of the development of national musical culture exerts its influence on said culture’s prestige in the world.
