Summary/Abstract: Reactions of the Romanian state and government employees. Witnesses descriptions of the atmosphere. Meetings organized by the Romanian Communist Party, description of the "mourning activities". Quotes from speeches of peasants, workers. Activities organized by the Romanian orthodox church at the events, quotes of priests and metropolitans. The article also describes the reactions of the population that was still "un-brainwashed", quotes and consequences of these. Writers, army officers, ex-political detainees, were closely observed. The article presents excerpts of Securitate documents relating to the events.
