Information systems integration in the supply chains

Summary/Abstract: Supply chain management enables the physical transfer of goods and information. During the transfer of goods in the logistics supply chain the information is modified. Therefore, information systems which benefit the business partners must ensure the integration of the different elements of the logistics supply chain. This article presents contemporary trends in the development of integrated information systems, and also focuses on the integration of information transferred between the two sides of logistics. The growing market requirements force companies to respond quickly to changes in demand for products and services. Therefore, the flow of information should ensure the reliability and timeliness of information and the speed of data transmission. Another objective of the article is to identify problems affecting the flow of information in the logistics chain of delivery, and to propose the improvements.
