Summary/Abstract: This text lists a few major cultural events that took place on the North-American continent. Among these, the most important is the International Symposium Mihai Eminescu, New York, which has reached the 20th edition. Certainly, this symposium in New York dedicated to this unique poet has earned in its 20 editions the prestige of the amplest cultural and academic manifestation dedicated to Eminescu in the USA, displaying participants from both Romania and the New World. In the American space, other cultural Romanian reunions took place, where the perspectives brought forward by some participants have destroyed the old frameworks of perceiving as socialist the Romanians who left the country and settled abroad: in Toronto, in Denver (Colorado), at the Orthodox monastery “The Ascension of the Lord” (Michigan) or in Chicago. These gatherings represent fi ve concrete, and yet symbolic steps in the culture of the Romanians in Diaspora, meant to draw bridges of communication between the country and its sons
