Summary/Abstract: Constitution is a text type which has not been described in genological perspective yet. The author, referring to the methodological assumptions proposed by Maria Wojtak, distinguishes genre designates (categories) in Polish constitutions. The emphasis is put to the structural, cognitive, stylistic and pragmatic aspects of the analysed texts. The subject of research there are Polish constitutions from 1791, 1921, 1934, 1952 and 1997.
