Summary/Abstract: The complexity of the environment in which an organizations operates, encourages managers to use operational research to make better decisions. This paper uses a discrete event simulation, as one of the most popular methods of operational research to create discrete simulation model of boats entering in marina. The assessment of optimum resources is very risky in the real world, because of a possible bad reputation in the future. Accordingly, the aim of simulation modelling is to design reliable replica of real system on which is possible to test and analyze the decisions. Simulation software Arena 7.0 is used for modelling system of boats entering the marina, and for the purpose of model optimization OptQuest is used. The conclusion is that simulation modelling can greatly assist in decision making in the marine business.
