Summary/Abstract: The recent increase in intensity and sophistication of crime results in threats against citizens' security across the world as well as in the prevention of states from developing socially, economically and culturally. The dark side of globalization allows multinational unions of crime to enlarge the area of their criminal operations from arms trafficking and money laundering to drug and human trafficking. The United Nations has understood the importance of preventing these phenomena since 1950, when it got involved in supporting the development of standards and an effective and correct judicial system. Member States have realized that the main way to success in combating international crime is cooperation. UN Commission for Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice [1] gives states an opportunity to exchange information and determine how to fight against global crime.
