Summary/Abstract: Abstract: The purpose of this report, written on the basis of empirical material from a research project concerning the role and place of the family in the local community, was to determine the values which parents consider to be the most important in the process of cross-generation transmission. The report also shows how the studied parental generation perceives cross-generation change in the sphere of values and how it evaluates the appropriateness of its cherished values vis-`a-vis the conditions, demands and life styles of their offspring’s generation.
