Effectiveness of activities of local government units

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the issue of the effectiveness of local government units. It consists of three parts. The first is a review of definition approaches in the area of efficiency. The second identifies the sources of inefficiency in local government. The third part of the article includes the proposals of solutions strengthening the effectiveness of local government structures in a division on solutions concerning financial management and non-financial sphere.
