Eugen D. Neculau – an almost unkown researcher of the northern Moldavian villages

Summary/Abstract: This article aims to bring back to the attention of historians the life and work of one of the most outstanding scholar of the villages in northern Moldavia - Eugen D. Nicolau (1900-1974). Nicolau devoted the last two and a half decades of his life researching the past of the villages from Upper Jijia region, his work being posthumously published in four volumes under aegis of the Romanian Institute of Genealogy and Heraldry "Sever Zotta" from Iaşi.
