Summary/Abstract: Mezzanine capital, also known as hybrid financial instruments, is a combination of debt instruments and equity and is in between a debt and capital financing. It allows a company for more effective risk management, caused by current operations, as well as a better creation of its own capital structure. It also allows to lessen agency costs and financial difficulties costs. It minimizes the risks connected with over- and under-investing of a company. It is an interesting alternative which allows to raise capital despite increasing difficulties connected with using classic forms of gaining a foreign capital.
