Summary/Abstract: In the first part, the paper discusses the status and the power of expression, persuasion and legitimacy of a social ethics forced to observe both the exigency of reaching local consensus and the imperativeness of cutting through the universal doubt climate specific to postmodern mentality. In the second part, it is highlighted that at a local level, Filantropia Alba Iulia, through its 70 social centres network, has managed to creatively overcome the two demotivating challenges of the time (economic totalitarianism and ferocious individualism) and to assert an anthropological theological vision of great mystical depth: getting to the heart of our fellow-creature is accomplished by gradually converting every need into a source of grace.
