Summary/Abstract: The Word of Christ: “Be you perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matthew 5, 48) reveals that each man is called to holiness, the likeness to God for which we were created. Marriage is the common way of salvation and sanctification, more humble but more reliable than the way of monks. Married saints are not an exception among the saints, nor between married people, but they are the ones who have attained the purpose of marriage. They are models of assuming marriage in Christ and Church, because the Orthodox Christian marriage doesn’t have a meaning and a purpose in itself and even in procreation, but the meaning and ultimate purpose of marriage is the holiness of man and woman, united in the Sacrament of Wedding.
