Research Of Budget Financing Of Culture In The Cities Of Serbia

Summary/Abstract: Besides the need, financing of cultureal activites by state administration and administrative organs in cities and municipalities represents a legal obligation with the foundations in the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia. Starting from that opinion, there was made a research of budget financing of cultural activity in the cities of Serbia based on the city decisions about the 2009 budget. In the given analyses, 21 city was ranked according to various criteria, from the number of citizens and the total budget, over the funds for financing cultural activities, the percentage of the sum in relation to the total budget and funds for the culture per capita, to the number of financed subjects and the amounts which intended for salaries of employees in the cultural institutions. The research pointed to substantial disproportions in the budget financing of culture in the cities of Serbia, and also opened new research issues connected with the relation of financing the culture and the quality of cultural life.
