Summary/Abstract: The paper tries to reconstruct the topography of Pistiros, largely destroyed by the River Maritza, restore the picture of the fortification and other phenomena of planning and function of the emporion. The area of the squares (B 23, B 24, B’3 and B’4) is located east of the sector with high concentration of religious and residential feature excavated by M. Domaradzki (cf. Домарадски и кол. 1994, 34) and it includes a section of the city wall. The main gids in sq. B 24 were focused on tracing the city wall. The objective of excavations in squares B 23, B’3 and B’4 were to uncover the archaeological structures and their stratigraphic sequence inside the fortress.
