Summary/Abstract: The study represent the theme of the Inn in Ioan Slavici‘s work .The author emphasizes the idea of the ageless place in European literature, is treated different in Rumanian literature. In comparison with the presence of the theme in the work of other Rumanian authors, for Ioan Slavici the Inn has a malefic influence, given by the transformation of the construction: the Inn becomes mill; the mill becomes tavern where tragic events happen.
