Ethnic features and changes in V. Cvetovo-Skopska Torbeshia

Summary/Abstract: The village of Cvetovo belongs to the ethnic area of Skopska Torbeshija and it is populated by Islamized Macedonians - Torbeshes. The paper deals with the geographic location of the village, the origin of its nаmе, settling of Islamized Macedonians in the village at the close off the 13th century, number of inhabitants throughout history according to statistic data and their ethnic characteristics. The inhabitants of the village of Cvetovo speak Macedonian language, the Debar dialect. The roots of the material and spiritual culture of the Islamized Macedonians сап be traced back in the culture of Macedonians. Nowadays the population of v. Cvetovo declares in the сеnѕuѕ to be of Turkish nationality, which is due to numerous migrations into Turkey and the continued communication with emigrants.
