Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the results of the research that was carried out in the 6th form of "Ąžuolas" catholic secondary school. The problems of consonant writing are focused on. The research is aimed at providing assistance for teachers in diagnosing and eliminating the problems of linguistic education as well as encouraging teachers to understand education as a unified process and to assess the relationship of the methods of traditional and active learning in teaching writing skills The article claims that a constant repetition of consonant writing rules and their practical application, both in written and orally, while developing reading, writing and speaking skills enabled the elimination of consonant writing mistakes. Therefore a conclusion follows that writing skills should be taught applying the methods which are related to communication, critical thinking and creativity (dialogues, questions, discussions).
