Summary/Abstract: I am not quite sure that all the listeners attending this gathering know anything much. about the Burgenland Croats and so I will fill you in with some essential data. The Burgenland Croats have settled in the region of their new homeland, 1.,e. on the territory of today's Burgenland (Gradisce), some 450 years ago in their flight from the Turkish invaders. The course of developments over a period of almost 500 years was far from favorable for a minority which found itself in the midst of the fireworks of political divisions and on the crossroads of European Cultures.
