The US , the EU , and China: Three poles in the global balance of power

Summary/Abstract: The article describes three centres of power in the contemporary global balance of power – the US, the EU, and China. The criteria describing the three political powers are: overall power, strategic matrix, soft power, and selected rankings. The author assumes that international relations are those of power and interests. According to the criterion of the overall power between the three actors, there is an approximate balance. Selected rankings, which the author uses as ancillaries, have shown an advantage of the United States over EU, and particularly over China. Summing up all the results, we can say that the position of Western countries is still strong.
