Summary/Abstract: The primary political intentions concerning the Unification of Transilvania with Romania dates back to 1914-1916, after the beginning of the first world war. The unification of the Romanians from Transilvania was anticipated as a consequence of the Romanian military success along the Western Allies. The unification political project determined Romania to join France, Great Britain and Russia in the war, with the single goal of uniting Transilvania and Bucovina with Romania. On the 1st December 1918, Transilvania was unified with Romania, but the Coronation project was also shown a lot of attention. After prolonged preparations, on 15 October 1922, Ferdinand was crowned king in Coronation Cathedral of Alba Iulia, the monumental edifice which housed the most significant stages of the event. Whereas the Coronation itself had the significance of a “unification act”, generated by the victory obtained in the “unification war”, by the content of the resolution of the Great National Assembly held on 1st December 1918 and by the Peace Conference from Paris, the Coronation Cathedral has the constitutive function of a Unification monument
