Summary/Abstract: The Muslim law embodies many general provisions regarding the animals, as well as a series of special norms referring to the dog’s status. The Quran and other special laws state clearly the interdiction of abusing this animal. The law regulates the conditions in which the dog can be sold, bought, used for different activities (haunting, guard etc.). During time, the Muslim law has known several superstitions that encouraged the creation of a positive or negative image, depending on the case, of this animal that has an extremely interesting legal status.
