Summary/Abstract: In teaching scientific and technical German, where the cognitive function of language appears to be prevalent through the very nature of its essential goal, which is documentation, the text should be considered from a twofold perspective, as both a source of information and an expression pattern. It is, namely, an inductive and contrastive approach, allowing students to exercise their faculty of abstract thinking and to clearly comprehend the functions and relations within the foreign linguistic system, compared to that of the native language which is familiar to them.
