Summary/Abstract: Translation of neologisms is a challenge. It requires an accurate decoding of new words in their original context, a transfer of that speech into a different linguistic environment and its reformulation in a new expression, which recaptures the intention of the original message. Our work attempts to present the nature of neologisms, which constitute one of the characteristics of the fantasy literature. Our study is based on a comparative analysis of examples of neologisms from Ostatnie życzenie by Andrzej Sapkowski and their Spanish versions. The results are compared in terms of linguistic and stylistic equivalence, in order to show the possibilities of loss of the transtextual elements and the ways of recompensing these elements by substitution, amplification and by other techniques.
