Summary/Abstract: Erasmus, as he was known to a great many intellectuals and churchmen in both the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries, did not present a personal or individual identity until he wrote an autobiography of sorts well after his formative years. He did not identify with the priesthood even though he had been ordained as a priest of the Catholic Church.
