Summary/Abstract: The literary works of Mór Jókai show the revolution of 1848 as object of an interpretation process, which permanently reinterprets both the historical event and its literary representation. The volume of short stories, which appeared in 1850 and is entitled Images from the Revolution in 1848–1849, starts this process of interpretation. The image of the revolution given by the short stories, the perspective from which the events are shown is on the one hand in accordance with the expectations determined by the literary canon of the 19th century but on the other hand it often changes to non-canonical points of view, offering an image of the historical event similar to those given by the postmodern pluriperspectivical historical works.
