Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses three novels with plot similarities, S. Maugham’s “Christmas Holiday”, R. Gary’s “Lady L.”, and John Fowles’ “The French Lieutenant’s Woman”. The plots of these works are analyzed in terms of the relations between the principles of representation of English, French and Russian components showing themselves with different degrees of manifestation in all three texts.
