Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the connections between Mark Twain’s fiction and American national folklore tradition, especially the humor of frontier. The folklore genre of tall tale or yarn had a great influence on Mark Twain’s short stories, and an important impact on the narrative strategy of his novels. The authors of the article analyze “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” and “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” from this perspective.
