On the Immortality of the Soul

Summary/Abstract: The following two essays of David Hume are translated for the first time into Bulgarian. The topics analysed in them belong to the philosophy of religion. In his attack on the dogmas that soul is immortal and that suicide is a criminal act, Hume shows his true sceptical zeal. The two essays mock the stances and supesritions of Deism and propound a common-sense philosophical naturalism. In Hume’s opinion neither God has forbidden suicide, nor soul is of higher nature than body.
