The Statement of some Romanian Intellectuals forwarded to the Palace - 1942

Summary/Abstract: Unfortunately only few voices have been heard in Romania against the Jews deportation during the Antonescu’s regime. Especially there were no cases of collective protests from the Romanian population. This article is bringing to public attention a document found in the Romanian Archive of the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies from United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The author has found a microfilm copy of this document during his study period there with a Rosenzweig scholarship. The copy contains only several pages of a statement signed by some Romanian intellectuals and addressed to King Michael in 1942. Because the microfilm does not provide the entire body of the statement and the list of petitioners and some parts of the copy are not readable, the author hopes to bring the document to public attention and to find more details and maybe the entire document in the archive of Romanian Ministry of Internal Affaires.
