Summary/Abstract: The collection of 3rd millennium BC anthropomorphic figurines from Tell Arbid, a site in the Khabur river basin in northern Mesopotamia, comprises nearly 40 specimens, dated to the Ninevite 5, through the Early Dynastic III, Akkadian and Post-Akkadian periods. They are mostly made of clay, with one exception made of stone. The figurines represent not only types characteristic for the second part of the millennium, well attested at other sites in the region, but seem to provides data on their prototypes as well. The collection is also illustrative of new types of representations only then taking hold in this part of the Near East.
